Pull a Lucky Fish Weather Events & Mutations
Every Pull a Lucky Fish weather event, the mutation each one applies, how weather mutates fish already on your island, and which event to farm.
What are weather events in Pull a Lucky Fish?
Weather events are timed server events that change the sky and apply a specific mutation to fish. They are the main alternate route to mutations besides catching a naturally mutated fish or using the Mutation Machine.
The important detail that most short guides leave out: an active event applies its mutation to fish already placed on your island, not just to fish you catch while it is running. That means the event is a chance to upgrade fish you have already banked, so leaving your highest-income catches placed before an event is usually better than holding them in your inventory.
Every reported weather event and the mutation it applies
The five events below are the ones the July 25 Trading Update guides describe. Each multiplier applies to both the fish’s sale value and its island income.
| Weather event | Mutation it applies | What that is worth |
|---|---|---|
| Thunder | Gold (1.5×) | A general-purpose event. Gold is the lowest multiplier, so treat Thunder as a starter window rather than a farming target. |
| Rainbow | Gold, Diamond, Molten | The strongest window in the game. It is the only reported event that can produce Molten, the 4× mutation. |
| Cat | Cat (2.5×) | A mid-tier event. Cat sits above Gold, Diamond and Frozen and below Bloody and Molten. |
| Frozen | Frozen (2×) | Matches Diamond's multiplier, so it is most useful early, before better events are available. |
| Bloodmoon | Bloody (3×) | The best non-Rainbow event, and one of only two routes to a 3× or better mutation without the machine. |
Recorded gameplay also shows a disco weather event, described in the footage as lasting three minutes with a stated luck bonus while it runs. Because we have that from a single gameplay recording rather than a written source, treat the exact numbers as unconfirmed and check the live banner in your server. The same applies to the Premium Cat event some guides mention alongside the standard Cat event.
Do weather events mutate fish already on your island?
Yes. This is the single most useful thing to understand about the weather system, and both the July guides and recorded gameplay agree on it. Two consequences follow.
- Place your best fish before the event, not after. A fish you are holding in your inventory collects nothing. A fish on your island can pick up the event mutation and start earning at the higher rate immediately.
- You do not need to recatch a fish to mutate it. If your strongest earner is already placed, an event can improve it in place. That is often worth more than anything you catch during the window.
Recorded gameplay also shows a blood-moon event applying Bloody to fish already in play, including a reported 20% chance on at least one species. Treat single-species percentages from video as that session’s observation rather than a published drop rate.
Why Rainbow is the event to plan around
Rainbow is the only reported event that can produce Molten, the highest multiplier in the July table at 4×. It also covers Gold and Diamond, so almost any placed fish has something to gain from the window.
If you want a routine for a Rainbow window, this is the order we recommend:
- Make sure your island is full and your weakest placed fish has been replaced by your current best catch.
- Stay fishing for the whole window rather than leaving to shop or upgrade.
- After the event ends, compare each placed fish’s displayed income with what it showed before. The game shows the final number, so you do not need to calculate multiplier stacking yourself.
- Only then decide what to sell. A mutated spare may be worth more to a mutation project than to your island.
Can you summon a weather event?
Partly. August player notes describe a paid option that rolls random weather for a reported 30 Gems lasting about three minutes, with machine-summoned weather lasting around ten minutes. Because the roll is random, this is a way to get more event time, not a way to force Rainbow on demand.
Two cautions before you spend Gems on it. The reported duration is short relative to the cost, and the notes say automatic weather can overwrite weather you summoned. See the Gems guide for where Gems come from and what else competes for them.
Do events stack with each other and with the Mutation Machine?
A single fish can hold more than one mutation. A naturally mutated catch can pick up an event mutation, and a fish can also be put through the Mutation Machine afterwards. What is not published is a formula for combining those labels.
Do not multiply the labels together. A Gold (1.5×) fish that later becomes Molten (4×) is not necessarily 6× of its base rate, and the game may not compute it that way either. Read the final money-per-second number the game displays for that fish. That number already accounts for everything applied to it.
Weather event questions
How long does a Pull a Lucky Fish weather event last?
Reported durations differ by event and by version. The durations we can attribute to a specific source are given on the page; anything else needs checking in your own server before you plan around it.
Do weather events mutate fish that are already placed on my island?
Yes. Two independent July guides and recorded gameplay agree that an active event can apply its mutation to fish already placed on your island as well as to new catches. That is why keeping your best fish placed during an event is worthwhile.
Can I choose which weather event runs?
Player notes describe a paid option that summons random weather for a reported 30 Gems for roughly three minutes. It is random, so it is not a way to force Rainbow. Treat the cost and duration as reported rather than fixed.
Can two mutations be on the same fish?
Yes. A fish can carry more than one mutation, and a later event can add a second one to a fish that already has one. The game does not publish a formula for combining multipliers, so use the fish's final displayed income instead of multiplying labels yourself.
Is the weather event list complete?
No. Player notes collected in August and September 2026 describe at least one additional named event beyond the five in the July table. We list only what a dated source supports and flag the rest as needing a check.
What to check next
The multiplier table and the Mutation Machine unlock requirements live on the mutations page. If you are deciding whether an event is worth staying online for, compare it against your current island income on the income planner, and check x2 Mutation Luck before assuming a gamepass changes event odds.
