Pull a Lucky Fish Gems: How to Get & Spend Them
Every way to earn Gems in Pull a Lucky Fish, what the Gem Shop sells, the reported prices, and what is worth buying first.
Gems are the currency that is not cash
Pull a Lucky Fish has two currencies and they do different jobs. Your island earns cash, and cash buys rods, weights and fish upgrades. Gems are earned separately and buy consumables and machine time.
Players often mix these up because both show on screen at once, then spend an hour farming cash for something that only accepts Gems. Before you start saving, check which currency the thing you want actually costs.
How to get Gems
| Source | How it works | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Fish Index rewards | Claimed in the Index as you fill collection entries. Recorded gameplay shows a per-entry claim and a large number of unclaimed entries waiting. | Confirmed in gameplay |
| Daily tasks | Guide sources describe a daily task routine paying a reported 60 Gems per day. | Reported |
| Gamepass and event bundles | Some passes and events state a Gem component. Read the live store text rather than a guide. | Needs a live check |
The Index is the one to check first. Recorded gameplay shows a player claiming Index reward entries in a long sequence, with far more entries pending than claimed — the footage shows repeated claiming well past the first dozen. If you have been playing for a while without opening the Index, that backlog is the fastest Gems available to you.
Daily tasks are the steady source. Guide sources put the routine at a reported 60 Gems per day, which matters because it makes the smaller Gem purchases reachable without paying. See the Fish Index and Gems page for how Index entries are filled and why the Diamond float has a zone requirement.
What to spend Gems on
Three things compete for your Gems. They are not equally good value.
- Mutation Machine extraction — reported 180 Gems. This is the only Gem purchase that gives you a mutation you actually chose. If you have a high-value fish and a specific target mutation, this is where Gems do the most work. See the machine steps.
- Gem Shop consumables. Recorded gameplay shows a straining potion giving a stated 15% throw power for 10 minutes. That is a short-term boost, so buy it when a timed window is already running, not at random.
- Random weather — reported 30 Gems for about three minutes. The roll is random, so you cannot aim it at Rainbow. Cheap per use, expensive per useful result.
Our recommendation order is: bank Gems until you have a specific mutation target and a fish worth applying it to, then spend on extraction. Buy shop consumables only to support a window you are already in.
Three Gem mistakes to avoid
- Saving cash when you needed Gems. Cash and Gems do not convert. Check the price tag currency before committing to a farming session.
- Letting Index rewards sit unclaimed. They do not earn anything while unclaimed, and a long-unopened Index can hold a large backlog.
- Spending Gems on random weather hoping for Rainbow. The roll is random. Extraction gives you a chosen result instead.
Gem questions
What are Gems used for in Pull a Lucky Fish?
Gems are the second currency, separate from the cash your island earns. They are spent in the Gem Shop on consumables, and they are the cost of Mutation Machine extraction, reported at 180 Gems per extraction.
How do you get Gems fast?
The Index is the main repeatable source. Recorded gameplay shows claiming entry rewards in bulk, and the game had a large backlog of unclaimed entries available at once. Daily tasks are the other reliable route at a reported 60 Gems per day. Check the Index whenever you have not opened it recently.
What does the Gem Shop sell?
Consumable boosts. One recorded purchase was a straining potion giving a stated 15% throw power for 10 minutes. The stock and prices change, so read the live shop.
Are Gems worth spending on weather?
Usually not first. Random weather costs a reported 30 Gems for roughly three minutes and cannot be aimed at a specific event. Mutation Machine extraction at a reported 180 Gems gives a result you chose. Compare the two before spending.
Do Gems carry over between sessions?
They are an account currency, not a per-server one. We have not verified whether any progression reset removes them, so treat that as unconfirmed.
